New link. Same little tile.

Your first link is set up for you. When it’s time for something new, you can change it.

What you’ll need

Have your tile, a phone that supports writing NFC tags, and a compatible NFC writing app ready. NFC Tools by wakdev is one option for iPhone and Android; check its requirements for your phone.

You don’t need an app just to open the link on a compatible phone. Writing a new link is a separate step.

Write your new link

  1. Open the NFC writing app and prepare one website URL record with your new https:// link. In NFC Tools, use the Write section and add a URL/URI record.
  2. Choose the app’s write action, then hold your phone’s NFC reader close to the tile until the app confirms it has finished.
  3. Leave the writing screen and tap the tile again to check that it opens the right page.

For the current app instructions and download links, see wakdev’s NFC Tools guide.

Keep it changeable

Avoid options called “Lock” or “Make read-only”. They can permanently prevent further changes. Our tiles are supplied writable, without a password needed to change the link.

Someone else with a compatible writer held close to your tile can also change it. Keep that in mind when choosing where to display it.

If writing doesn’t work

Try one tile at a time, away from other NFC tags. Move the phone slowly to find its reader position. If needed, take the tile off its metal mounting surface and try a shorter link if the app reports there isn’t enough space.

Changing the tag updates the link stored on that tile. It doesn’t change the starting link recorded with your original order.
